Fused! Glass Art (Chile)

The medium of fused glass is one that few artisans dare to choose. Pieces of local glass are painted with pigment and heated to 900 degrees in kilns. Opaque colors with striations of bubbles mixed with natural designs of suns, flowers and waves are embedded in plates, jewellery and keyrings. The pieces are not just handmade art, they illustrate the lifelong commitment the artisans have to their craft. Flipped! Art (Kenya)

These recycled sculptures have been created by our artisan partners at UniquEco from discarded flip-flops found on Kenyan shores and around the locality of Lamu. They are trimmed down, glued into blocks and expertly carved into stunningly beautiful pieces. Each one has a UniquEco aluminum embossed tag attached to its underside.
